The Savanna biome is quite broad, characterised generally by the presence of short trees and grass. This biome also includes Lowveld and Bushveld areas of Southern Africa, and more specifically the following distinct subtypes: Mixed Woodland (Acacia, <1500 m), Dry Woodland (Mopane, <1000 m), Moist Woodland (>1000 m) and Kalahari Savanna (deep sand with little surface water, <1000 m).
